After seeing some of my work on social media, a local friend of mine graciously gave me some beautiful rocks and stones from her yard to experiment with. I gladly accepted the challenge!
This flagstone is about 12" long and 3" deep and heavy! It was a process, but I am happy with the outcome. This particular Calliope hummingbird, flying through the poppies, was traded for a massage by my sweet friend. Visit her if you're in need of a healing massage!
What a treat this one turned out to be. Truth be told, I sometimes struggle with color. I get into a trance when painting and get too caught up in the small details, while failing to focus on what the overall color should be. Luckily, paint is like magic and walking away for a day can open up a whole new perspective. This can be true for many situations, putting things on pause - to reflect - can be just what is needed.
As I walked Vixen into the gallery to put on display I had a very eager buyer before she was even inside!
To say I am humbled is an understatement.
Why not combine some of what Colorado has to offer on a stone? Amazing sunsets, full of color, and phenomenal skiing! This was a surprise thank you gift for a true ski junkie.
The bottom left was exposed to allow the sparkly rock to shine through, appearing like snow. This was a challenge that I would definitely do again.

Made for a cherished friend who has has taught me so much over the last decade. He is an avid wildlife photographer and one of his favorite Colorado birds is the mountain bluebird. This took almost 4 hours to paint and it was worth every second.
Santorini stones are such a delight to paint on. I've only recently discovered them (suggested by other rock painters), and the white, sparkly surface provides the perfect backdrop! I'm sure there are several places to buy them, but I have thoroughly enjoyed ordering from Rock the Spot on Etsy. Support small businesses!
Made for a sweet friend, who is a fan of owls

Soo Baus is a phenomenal wildlife photographer and has given me so much inspiration lately. I follow an online Colorado bird photography group and these two photos captivated me. I didn't realize it was the same photographer until I took a closer look. Seriously, go check out her work! She is able to capture amazing moments in nature!

I was asked if I could recreate this beach scene for a friend, who dreams of their future retirement location. I truly loved painting this one and it will forever be one of my favorites.
